Second Chance Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to rescuing dogs from Missouri puppy mills. These dogs have spent their entire lives in filthy cages. They do not receive veterinary care or adequate food. They have limited human contact. Second Chance provides them with thorough vetting, social rehabilitation and places them in loving adoptive homes. Second Chance Animal Rescue's mission is to educate consumers of one simple fact - that puppies sold from pet stores come from puppy mills. It also seeks to enroll volunteers to help with transports, fostering a dog and with financial help by sponsoring a dog or making a donation.
Feel Free to call or email regarding any of our animals. We can determine if the dog is a good fit for you. If so, we will ask you to fill out an adoption application. Once it is approved, an appointment will be made to meet the dog. We encourage you to bring all family members with you. If you already have a dog, you may bring your dog along or a home-visit may be scheduled.
If I could give less than one star I would. Adopted two cats on separate occasions and each had tapeworms AND ring worm. The first rime she took care of the issues/bills and we assumed it was just a fluke. The second adoption she did not take care of the issues and left us with hundreds of dollars of vet bills. We used to also help a pet adoption group do transports of animals from state to state and had picked up dogs at her house, her husband was very mean to the animals and volunteers. They have since been removed as participants and a holding area by this rescue and are not longer associated with their transports thankfully. Her animal containment area (barn) is filthy and most likely the reason for multiple animals having ringworm. Would not ever recommend getting a pet from them.
