Recycled Critter Rescue

Formed in May of 1996 by founder Judy Quinlivan and co-founder Chris McCracken, Recycled Critter Rescue (along with many volunteers) have rescued thousands of dogs and cats. These animals were rescued from either a local shelter or off the streets. They were saved from an unhappy existence or an untimely death. After being cared for medically and socially, they were adopted into loving, permanent homes. In 2012 we decided to change our rescue mission. We wanted to finish what we had started in 1996. We still had 25-30 cats located in the home of our founder. Some of these cats had issues (many were dumped at PetsMart), but we found great homes for all but 13. We are still working on the last 13, but some have health issues from being older, some are semi-feral, some are feral and a few are adoptable. If we reach a point where we can't find them a home, they will live with Judy (our founder). They will have found their forever home! We were so lucky to find a wonderful barn home for 5 ferals (Hobby Horse Farm). They are huge! There is a large arena with many places to hide and it is heated. We are feeding these cats plus 5 more that are there. We are also helping to feed and medicate cats in 5 other situations where the people are struggling financially, most are seniors. Many people still call our founder and ask if RCR can help with a problem they are having with their cat. She is still known as the cat lady! In the meantime, during the years of rescuing, we have learned much about cats and our new goal is to set up an education program for school children in high risk areas about spay/neuter and pet responsibility. We would like to even write some children's books!
