Adoption process

Step One. The first step in the adoption process is to schedule an initial visit. To schedule an appointment, email rabbitearsrescue@gmail.com. During your initial visit, you will be able to view all of the adoptable animals at the facility, and potentially spend some one on one time if you find someone special. If you decide to add a fur baby to your family, you would fill out a hold form, and pay the hold fee before departing. The hold form allows up to one week to prepare for the homecoming. Step Two. After the initial visit, it is time to prepare the habitat, and gather the required documentation. Habitat requirements vary by species and number, so be sure to go over minimum requirements with the adoption advisor. The advisor should also go over the documentation requirements. These include proof of identity, proof of address, proof of right and ability to house the species you plan to adopt indoors, and proof of suitable habitat prepared. Documents can be sent via email, or brought in on adoption day. Once the habitat is ready, and the documentation is gathered, schedule your adoption day with your advisor. Step Three. When your scheduled adoption day occurs, be sure to bring any documentation that has not been submitted already, and a carrier of suitable size if you have one. A carrier is required for your advisor to release your new fur baby to you to take home. After all the documentation is approved, and any necessary copies made, fill out the adoption contract. The pickup fee is then paid, and a photo taken for the celebratory adoption day social media post. Once that is done, you and your little one can head home together.
