Oakland Animal Services

Oakland Animal Rescue has helped our neighborhood recently by spaying and neutering three cats, one a feral cat, and taking three kittens that had previously only been wormed out of the community. In addition, OAR is fostering an indoor/outdoor cat with four kittens which was part of the community and probably will not return to it. OAR is going to pick up more stray cats gone homeless; these had not been neutered, and it's spring... I want to thank the personnel in the field and at the Animal Shelter near the Fruitvale BART station, especially Officers Mitchell and Tierney for getting here with their van, helping me chase down the animals I'd gotten in the house, and bringing the cats to the spay and neuter facility and back to the community. This is a relatively new venture for Animal Control and satisfies an admirable ambition to improve relations among animals and people in Oakland.
