We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and placing Pugs in “forever homes.” At this time, we are a completely volunteer run organization and all Pugs are placed in foster homes until loving forever homes can be found. We rescue all Pugs regardless of medical needs and do our best to provide for them with our limited resources.

Adoption process

When an application is received at Pugpals, each board member has an opportunity to review it and makenotes about any concerns that they have or may ask questions to clarify something on the application. Once the board members present their concerns or questions, you will receive a telephone interview from our Placement Coordinator to address these concerns and answer any questions that has arisen. After that, if we feel you are a good home for the pug/pug mix, we will have a volunteer in your area contact youfor a home visit. We must do a home visit for every adoption to be sure the applicant is, in fact, who they say they are and to check for safety issues for the pug/pug mix, and to go over any other questions. Oncethe home visit report is done we will determine if the application is approved and if we need to see any potential safety issues or hazards repaired. If you are approved, you will get another phone call or a Facebook Messenger invitation to join a group chat about which pugs/pug mixes are available and would be a best match for your home. We feel that we are doing all of these things to find perfect homes and that it will be a forever placement. When we talk to you about matches, each pug has different needs, possibly medical or potty issues, could be special diets, any number of things will be discussed however, nothing is perfect and new issues arise all of the time with rescues. We do not intentionally hide or deceive anyone about these issues. We do our best to have the pets in foster care so we can observe all of their traits, personalities, issues and conditions. We also put them through as much medical is necessary to have them fully vetted and as healthy as possible for adoption. We sometimes have waitinglists if you want a specific type of pug like: a young, black or fawn, perfectly healthy, female...that is the longest waiting list. The more flexible you are on your match, the faster we can make a match!After all of these things are done and we have a match for your home, we will arrange a meet and greet if you are in the same area as the pet or we will help with transportation if it is a longer distance. We would hope that you could help with transportation by meeting at a designated place, we can't always do a homedelivery. We will provide you with access to their medical records, vaccination certificates and microchip information. We aren't perfect and sometimes we forget one or the other of these documents, just remind us and we will get it to you. We appreciate your patience during this process, it will ensure a smooth and forever placement with your future pug!
