About

We are Underdog Rescue of Arizona, a pet rescue based in Chandler, Arizona. We strive to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. Underdog Rescue of Arizona is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foster-based dog rescue dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of animals facing euthanasia, as well as abandoned or neglected pets in need. We are run entirely by devoted volunteers and foster families. We rescue pets of all breeds, ages, and sizes, including many with extensive medical conditions. In addition, we are an advocacy group that works to educate the public on the issue of animal welfare. We promote shelter reform, spay and neuter education, responsible pet ownership, and participate in emergency rescue(s) for animals in crisis.

Adoption process

Initially, we require our Fosters and Adopters to complete our Foster/FWITA Application. It contains basic information about you, your home and your family. Once the application has been submitted, we can select a dog to fit your home and lifestyle. We will then schedule a "Meet & Greet"/Home Visit with the dog. We do require home visits for anyone wishing to foster or adopt. FOSTERS: If the meet & greet goes well, the dog will remain with you and the Foster Contract is then signed. ADOPTERS: If the meet & greet goes well, the dog will stay with you for a 2 week (FWITA) trial period. The FWITA contract will be signed at this time and the Adoption Fee collected. At the end of a successful 2 week trial period, the adoption shall be considered finalized. If within those 2 weeks it is deemed the dog will not be a good fit in your home, the dog shall be returned to the rescue (please see our FWITA contract for additional terms and conditions).
