Pug Rescue of Northwest Arkansas is a 501c(3) non- profit organization dedicated to the rescuing, rehabilitation and re-homing of homeless Pugs in the Northwest region of Arkansas. The rescue is governed by a Board of Directors, no one associated with the Rescue receives a salary. The Rescue operates on the donations of benevolent pet rescue advocates and collected adoption fees. Through many unfortunate circumstances some pugs find themselves in shelters labeled as strays or in other situations through no fault of their own. Resources are limited and foster homes are a premium, priority is given to dogs in kill shelters that are on the euthanasia list. The Rescue will not turn away a dog in that dire situation. Owner-surrenders are considered on a case-by-case basis. The Pug Rescue of Northwest Arkansas is a passionate group of people who appreciate the uniqueness of a pug. They have a special set of medical problems because of their brachiocephalic faces and bulging eyes. Pug Rescue recognizes and embraces these challenges and improves the health and circumstances of all dogs in their care. The Rescue has the goal of finding the perfect home for each dog according to the individual needs of the dogs. Pug Rescue surrounds itself with volunteers who believe every dog should have a loving family and a home to call it’s own. Please join the Rescue team and assist with this vision. All types of talents are needed to make this Rescue successful.
Please complete all of the questions and mail or email it to the Rescue. Please list the name of any pet you have owned in the past as well as any current pets and the pet’s veterinarian. In the section that asks for references it would be best for you to list friends who have seen you and your family interact with pets. After the application is received and approved a volunteer will be in touch to discuss adoption. It is necessary that you involve all members of your household in the adoption process. Rescues and shelters share common goals, but are very different in many ways including administration, resources, and ideologies. The Rescue is never under pressure to adopt dogs quickly in order to free kennel space. Please read the information for potential adopters and view our pugs. When the home visit is scheduled, all members of your household must be present to insure everyone is in agreement on the selection of breed and adoption procedures. If the adoption fails or you are unable to care for the dog according to the contract, the dog will be returned at your expense to the Rescue for re-homing. This insures the rescue dogs are not surrendered to shelters or gifted to a third party. If you rent your home property or are a tenant, please include a letter from your landlord stating your home has been approved for a dog and that the pet deposit will be paid if one is required. This will help to insure there are no misunderstandings later.
