About

We are a 501 (c) 3 not for profit Sheltie Rescue Corporation, licensed in Kansas and Missouri. We primarily serve the Greater Kansas City area by rescuing and searching for great "fur-ever" homes for the Shelties in our care. We began rescuing and finding great homes for Shelties in 2001 as part of an all-breed rescue organization and in 2009 Kansas City Sheltie Rescue was organized as a breed specific rescue by a small group of dedicated volunteers.

Adoption process

Our Adoptions begin with the completion and submission of an Adoption Application. Completion of an application does not commit you to an adoption, but does start the process. Be sure to fill in the application completely to avoid processing delays. We do process applications in the order in which they are received, but we reserve the right to select the family that is best suited for each particular dog's disposition and needs. We will check your references, contact your vets and phone or email you for an appointment to check your fence. We do require a secure fenced yard and do not accept electric fences. You may meet our Shelties at an adoption event or by appointment. Most of our Foster Parents work, so appointments will be made at their convenience.
