Great Plains SPCA is one of the largest No-Kill animal shelters in the Kansas City area, serving Johnson County, Kansas and the surrounding area. We offer comprehensive resources for pets that strengthen the relationship between pets and their human companions. Serving nearly 4,000 pets annually, Great Plains SPCA works to save, protect and improve the lives of animals, by providing humane sheltering, adoptions, unparalleled behavior and training as well as the HERO Team’s humane community outreach. Great Plains SPCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
1. Signing Waiver: After arriving at the Pet Adoption Center, you will be asked to sign a waiver to walk around the building. Then, fill out a survey to help us find your best match. 2. Walk-thru: You will get to walk around the Pet Adoption Center to view all our available dogs and cats in their kennels. 3. Matchmaking: Our dedicated staff will work with you to match you with the best-fit animal for your home! Each animal is seen by our Behavior and Shelter Medical teams prior to becoming available for adoption so that we can assist you with any questions you may have. 4. Paperwork: If you fall in love and decide to adopt, our team will walk you through the paperwork process. We will cover the animal’s medical and behavior history as well as microchip, feeding schedule and post-adoption support Great Plains SPCA offers. 5. Retail Store: Don't forget to outfit your new pet with supplies to set them up for success in your home! Every dog must leave on a leash and a collar and every cat must leave in a carrier. Every cent spent at our retail store supports our life-saving work. 6. Family Pawtrait: Congratulations on your new furry family member! Your Adoptions Counselor will take your 'Family Pawtrait’ to be shared on our social media platforms. Thank you for choosing adoption!
