We save death row dogs. The mission of Forget-Me-Not is to save the lives of hard-to-place pets (e.g., bully breeds, seniors, special needs, injured, and pregnant mothers) that are impounded in Bradenton/Sarasota kill shelters and at risk for euthanasia and homeless pets in the community. These pets often run out of time in the shelter because of overpopulation and a shortage of kennel space, or they just have a hard time being adopted due to age, breed, appearance, medical issues, or have special needs such as deafness or blindness. We never import dogs from out of state or euthanize healthy animals.
1. Fill out our interest form! This form helps our adoption counselors get to know you. We ask our interested adoptees about their hobbies, interests, dogs on their radar, and other basic information to make sure you are a good match for our rescue. Our adoption counselors can then approve it and schedule a meet-and-greet with you. 2. Your meet-and-greet allows you to visit with the dog or dogs you expressed interest in from your form. We recommend that you bring any other dogs in your household to this meeting so they can get to know each other. 3. We do a home check next! We need to make sure your home is a safe space for your new addition and that you can feasibly carry on the responsibilities of a dog. We can usually do this at the same time as the meet-and-greet, which saves time on both ends of the adoption process! 4. The final step is contract signing and the $100 adoption fee. Your contract ensures us that you will give your new four-legged friend the home they deserve. All dogs are neutered or spayed; microchipped, and includes all up-to-date vaccinations prior to going home with you. (If for any reason you find yourself unable to keep a dog you adopted from Forget-Me-Not Inc., we will accept the dog back into our rescue.)
