Aussie And Me Animal Rescue (AAMAR) is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to communities and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition. Aussie And Me is a small, family run organization with big hearts.

Adoption process

The first step of the process is to fill out and submit an application. Once an application is submitted you will receive an email outlining our adoption procedure. You must respond back to the email for us to continue with your application. Once we receive that response, you should hear from the Adoption Committee within 7-14 days if your application is approved. This is sometimes delayed if we are unable to reach your references; please include email addresses for personal references whenever possible. Having your pet up to date on vaccines, heartworm prevention and living as an inside family pet is a requirement for adoption. We do not adopt dogs that are intended to be living outside or working dogs. We also limit the number of dogs into the home, normally three but we will consider a fourth dog into the home after a personal interview is conducted.
