About

Animal Allies Florida was founded in December 2010 to help animals in our community. Many of us had been doing this work for years on our own, out of our own pockets. By creating Animal Allies, we can apply for grants, fundraise and join programs that support our efforts. We can combine forces, share knowledge, and support each other, instead of trudging along on our own. Originally called Emerald Coast Animal Allies or ECAA for short, we changed our name in 2015 because many people though ECAA meant Escambia County Animal Shelter. Although we support the county animal shelter's efforts to become no kill, we don't wish to be associated with them because we ARE NO KILL meaning no healthy animal is put down.

My family recently adopted an animal from Florida Animal Allies. We searched around for the right kitten for our family and finally fell in love with one of their foster kittens. She is a very loving kitten and we adore her very much. I just wanted to make other people aware that Animal Allies does not disclose all information to the adopter when adopting a pet. We had our kitten for not even two weeks and my whole family broke out in ring worm for the first time ever. I contacted my vet and they told me to contact the lady in charge of animal allies. I contacted the head person and not only was she rude, but she also told me the kitty recently had ring worm but was "cleared". She stated that this ring worm information they don't like to tell the adopters because they would freak out so they don't let them know this information. She was very unprofesional and out of line with the way she handled the situation. Now my new kitten has to be quarantined in a room for a month and get weekly treatments. So please ask questions and make sure you know all the history before you decide to adopt and anima from animal allies. Again we love our new addition, but the person in charge was not very pleasant!
