About

Almost Home Rescue (AHR) is a non profit dog rescue serving Rhode Island. All donations are tax deductible. AHR is comprised of a small, yet dedicated group of volunteers who devote their free time to rescuing, rehabilitating-if necessary- and rehoming dogs in need. Our dogs come from various shelters across Rhode Island and in some cases are owner surrendered due to a variety of circumstances like divorce, moving or death. We do not maintain a shelter so all of our dogs live in boarding until they can be placed in the right home. We can only take in as many dogs as we have an open home for, and therefore we welcome new foster applicants so we can help place more dogs who are at risk. We do not discriminate against dogs because of their age or breed. When deciding what dogs we will accept into our program, we judge by a dogs' temperament, not by how they look. We do not take or rehome dogs displaying human aggression.
