Alaskan Animal Rescue Friends ( AARF) is an IRS recognized 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation. AARF is a group of dedicated volunteers working to help the dogs of Alaska. We rescue, rehabilitate, and adopt dogs into loving homes. Most of our dogs come to AARF from bush communities through other rescue organizations such as Bethel Friends of Canines but we also take in dogs from local animal control facilities, owner releases, and neglect and medical cases.
All adopters must complete an application, interview, sign an adoption agreement, and home visit to adopt.
Knowing how much time rescue takes from your life and family I appreciate all that AARF does for every animal that comes into their organization. I appreciate that they get to know an animal and try to place it in the home that will care and love the animals for their WHOLE life. I know many say it’s hard to adopt from this organization but if they only knew how hard they work to respond and how many hours they work to organize pickup, drop offs of each one animal that goes go into rescue , then to be vetted and to go into foster. Arrange adoptions, then screen adopter then do a home check. This is just a little of what each animal requires. They miss out on weekends so others can find their furkid. Then to deal with those who are angry because they do not get the one dog they insist on. Please volunteer if you are not happy with the turn around time of responding to you. It is obvious they needed your help. Not your negative comments. Donate time and money then maybe you will know just a little of what rescue is.
