Valley Shore Animal Welfare League (also known as 'VSAWL') was founded in 1972 by a group of women that saw an increasing need for animal-oriented programs along the shoreline of Connecticut. The League now owns and operates a no-kill shelter that serves as an adoption facility for dogs and cats. We are a non-profit organization operated by a Board of Directors. A caring, dedicated staff and number of volunteers handle the daily operations of the shelter. At the shelter we welcome and encourage visitors and group tours. We are always happy to educate and share what we do with our shoreline community.
At VSAWL we take adoptions seriously and want to help you find your next best friend. During the adoption process you will be asked to fill out an adoption application to help us help you find the perfect match. After we have reviewed your application we can schedule a meet and greet for you. Our adoption fee for dogs is $400. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are $350. Our adoption fee for cats is $200. Kittens too young to be spayed/neutered are $150. We fully vet all of our animals before adopting them out. This includes their spay/neuter (if of age), age appropriate vaccinations, de-worming, monthly flea/tick preventatives, medical exams, and any other medical needs specific to the animal.
