About

Save UnderDogs is an all volunteer group of people who rescue and foster needy dogs, mostly from death row at local shelters. Dogs are kept in our homes for evaluation and are socialized in a home environment. We operate by fundraising and with personal funds, which is why we can only help a few dogs at a time.

Adoption process

Because all medical expenses are paid by us and we get no grant money or funding, our adoption fees vary slightly, depending on the medical needs of the pet. Typically it runs $175 to $250 — slightly more for puppies. For purebred dogs the accepted breed-specific adoption fee may apply. There are also some dogs with reduced or no adoption fee. All of our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative and flea preventative. Thank you for understanding that even these adoptions fees don’t even begin to cover the charges we incur at the vets office…not to mention food, laundry, bedding, toys, leashes, kennels, etc. Our average monthly expenses to operate are over $5,000 (no one gets paid a dime!) and we do around 10 adoptions a month. Adopted Harmony on May 7th last year. She is the sweetest Dog ever. The only problem has been trying to get a playmate for her and have no luck getting in touch with anyone from Underdogs. My wife filled out an application and made 4 phone calls about a dog named Little Man, but to avail. We were sad that no one got back to us. Hope he found a good home. Our experience was outstanding. Thank you.
