Shadow’s Fund is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to helping the most vulnerable shelter dogs. Senior dogs, dogs labelled as “pit bulls” and dogs with a treatable injury or illness are often passed over for adoption. We help these forgotten dogs find hope and 2nd chances. Our 3 core programs tackle the problem from every angle. Bright Beginnings is aimed at early intervention and prevention. The Take Me Home Project provides direct rescue and rehoming for shelter dogs. And, for those dogs that need a little extra help, the Sheltering Oak Sanctuary provides a safety net and safe haven. Whether out in the community, or at the sanctuary, Shadow’s Fund is always working to promote responsible and humane animal stewardship.
We believe that adoption is a life long commitment so it must be a good fit for everyone – the family, the dog and any existing pets. To help achieve that we have an adoption process that focuses on match-making. We start with a questionnaire to help us get to know you, your wants and expectations for your new dog. Once you submit the questionnaire, one of our team members will be in touch by phone or email to discuss adoption with you and to schedule a time for you to meet a dog (or perhaps several if you are unsure). We don’t believe anyone can get to know a dog in an hour, so after the initial meet & greet we will schedule a visit at your home with the dog you want to adopt. If, after the home visit, everyone agrees that this is a good match, your new dog can move in as soon as you are ready to receive him or her. Our adoption fees are: $350 for puppies, $250 for adult dogs and $150 for seniors. All of our dogs are already spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. Shadow’s Fund stands by our dogs for life and we are always available to help if you need support or guidance at any time during the life of your dog.
