About

Ruff Mutt Border Collie was founded in 2004 by Debbie Schwagerman after she got her first dog, Rascal (JRT/Pointer) and got involved in flyball. It was then she decided she wanted a border collie of her own so she searched on Petfinder until the perfect dog came up. She adopted her first border collie, SoBe, from the Oklahoma City animal shelter in September of 2004 and the rest is, as they say, history. After getting more involved with the world of dog sports and flyball, Debbie found that there were many border collies in shelters needing homes. She believes that it is important to find appropriate homes for this special breed and set out to do her part to help. She never anticipated that her desire to help dogs one at a time would turn into such a massive ongoing project.
