Animal Allies of Texas is a 501(c)(3) animal advocacy/rescue organization, dedicated to improving the quality of life in our community. Our goal is to build a no-kill shelter on enough land to house not only “adoptable” animals, but “treatable” ones as well – those who need medical care or behavior modification to become adoptable. While working toward this goal, we engage in community service and humane education projects to help bring about “humanity championed by thought.” AAT relies solely on a dedicated group of volunteers to operate. If you are interested in joining us in any capacity, you will find it a rewarding experience.
After we receive and review your application, we will be in touch with you to tell you if your application was approved. If it is approved, the foster family of the pet you are interested in will contact you to discuss your application, answer any questions that you have and arrange a home visit. Everyone who lives in your household should be there for the home visit. The foster parent will bring the pet to your home to meet your family and your current pets (if any), see how everyone interacts, and make sure you have a safe environment for the pet. Because they know the animal well, they will let you know if this pet is the right fit for your family. We sometimes have multiple applicants for the same animal. Please remember that it is not “first come, first served,” rather it is the best fit for the animal. We take the responsibility of choosing the best home for our foster pets seriously. If your family is approved to adopt you will have a two week “trial” period, in which the pet will live with your family. When the pet begins their trial period, you will sign a contract with the foster parent and pay the adoption fee. If at the end of the two week trial, you and the foster parent agree that the pet is a good fit for you, and you for the pet, then the adoption is finalized. If for any reason during the trial period it is determined that the pet is not a good fit for you, or you for it, the foster parent will pick up the pet and your adoption fee will be refunded. Our goal is to find the perfect fit for you, as well as for all animals in our care. The adoption fee includes all current shots, microchip, and a spay or neuter. We are also here to answer any questions you may have post adoption.
