About

The Coachella Valley City/County Animal Shelter provides complete animal services for the unincorporated areas of Riverside County. It provides shelter and adoption services for Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage. Riverside County Animal Services provides field services for county areas and the above cities, except Desert Hot Springs, La Quinta, Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage. Those cities provide its own animal-control officers.

Pets available

Adoption process

The pets featured on our Adoptable Pets web page are available for adoption on a first come first served basis. However, if more than one party present is interested in the same animal, a raffle will be conducted among approved parties to determine who will be granted the adoption. We do not guarantee that pets seen on our web page will be available to adopt when you arrive at the animal shelter. The Riverside County Department of Animal Services does not reserve pets for adoption by telephone or e-mail. You must come to the shelter to adopt an animal and refer to the pets Animal Identification Number (AID). Please bring a leash or carrier with you if you intend to adopt a pet.
