Pet Match Rescue aims to pull dogs and cats from bad situations locally, across the United States, and abroad. We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in the Pittsburgh area to give them a second chance at life. Fundraising initiatives and grant money help us reach our goal of keeping cats and dogs off of death row. Established in 2008, Pet Match Rescue has saved dogs from the Bahamas to Korea and brought them to forever homes in the Greater Pittsburgh area. The rescue achieved 501c3 status in 2010 when students from the Duquesne University School of Law helped founder Pamela Knichel incorporate the organization. A lifelong passion for animals drove Pamela and her sister and co-founder Paula Lawrence to throw themselves into rescuing animals in need.
If you're interested in one of our pets, there are a few things involved in our adoption process. There is an adoption agreement, and an application. We also do a meet n' greet, and a home visit before placing any of our dogs into their new home!
