Paws to Heart Rescue Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) non profit organization serving the Greater Philadelphia area. Founded in 2012 by Kristen Sarmiento, our mission is to give homeless animals a second chance at life through our rescue, foster, and adoption programs. To achieve our mission, Paws to Heart Rescue has established the following goals: Provide referrals and assistance for veterinary care and other related costs for the pets of local residents affected by adverse financial circumstances; Educate the public on caring for animals and on the issues affecting their welfare; Partner with open admission shelters to responsibly rehome pets in need, helping to increase their live release rates; Provide financially struggling pet owners with pet food during times of financial strain; Partner with other non-profit groups, professionals, veterinary clinics, and agencies to more adequately and collaboratively fulfill our mission. Since our inception, we have rescued and rehomed thousands of pets that otherwise may have been doomed. Most of our foster homes and events are in Eastern Pennsylvania but we partner with shelters, fosters, and volunteers nationwide. As a foster home based organization, all of the dogs and cats in our care are in temporary, private pre-screened homes until adopted. Because they live with our volunteers families until they are adopted, we are able to learn a lot about their behaviors, personalities, and likes and dislikes. For those who say they could never foster because they would become too attached, think of all the countless lives you could save by providing a safe haven for animals in need. You could save dozens, even hundreds of lives, just by providing a warm and loving temporary place for them to stay while they await their forever home. There is no greater joy than seeing these wonderful pets move on into their forever homes and opening up a spot in your home to continually save more. As a private, non profit organization with no government or grant funding, we rely heavily on the support of generous supporters to continue our lifesaving work. Our supporters enjoy working with us because they can see how their contributions are directly impacting the animals we care for through e-mail and Facebook updates for months and sometimes even years! We also give back to those who help by promoting and giving referrals to their product, service, or business.
