Last Hope Animal Rescue’s Mission is to save as many homeless, abused, abandoned, hard to place and neglected animals that we can and then place as many animals as possible into loving, forever homes where they will be cherished.

Adoption process

LHAR adoption counselors use information and insights from foster homes to help individuals and families meet their perfect match. While in foster care awaiting their forever homes, animals are socialized, assessed and learn basic obedience. A foster home is the perfect opportunity to see an animal’s true personality to ensure they find their perfect forever home. Requests made in the requirements of a new home for an animal, such as “needs a fence” or ” no children under 12″, are done so through this learning process as foster homes have a firsthand understanding of the needs for the given animal in their care. Prior to adoption, cats are tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), given Rabies and Distemper vaccines, dewormed and are spayed/neutered. Dogs receive; a heart worm check, spayed/neutered, Rabies and Distemper vaccines, dewormed, and kennel cough preventative. Our modest adoption fees help cover these costs; we hold fundraisers to make up the difference. Any ongoing medical or behavioral needs that LHAR is aware of are explained fully to the potential adopter, and become the responsibility of the adopter.
