Since 1870, the Humane Society of Missouri has been dedicated to second chances. We provide a safe and caring haven to all animals in need - large and small - that have been abused, neglected or abandoned. Our mission is to end the cycle of abuse and pet overpopulation through our rescue and investigation efforts, spay/neuter programs and educational classes. We are committed to creating lasting relationships between people and animals through our adoption and shelter pet behavior programs and by making available world-class veterinary care. The animals thank you for your support.
To begin the adoption process, please submit your completed Adoption Interest Form at the front desk at least 30 minutes before closing. Please allow sufficient time to get acquainted with the pets as well as complete an adoption application. Completing the application can take 45 minutes or longer; the purpose of the application is to allow clients to consider the care and finances that go into raising a companion animal for - depending on the pet - 15 years or longer.
I was very impressed with my 4/11/2020 visit. Despite the pandemic, they took my beloved pet in for exam and provided me with a diagnosis which I had been unable to get from my vet and they checked her out thoroughly and gave her a cortisone shot in her jaw and gave me Prednisone and Docycillian (spelling??) to treat her conservatively and told me of other options if we cannot keep her well and able to eat. The only problem I had was, they forgot to give me my paid receipt with the doctor's name on it so I can e-mail her with my dog's progress and any further questions I might have as time progresses. Could you possibly mail me my receipt and write the doctor's name on it. The doctor was very thorough and kind. I am so appreciative of your seeing her. Thank you so much.
