Great Lakes Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to animal welfare. We are based on a 10-acre private farm in Leelanau County, about three miles west of Traverse City. Our Federal tax ID is 65-1134062. All visits and adoptions are by appointment only. Our Mission: To take in stray and unwanted animals and find loving, lasting homes for them, to educate the public about adopting rather than purchasing a pet and to increase awareness of the need to spay and neuter animals in the battle against pet overpopulation.
