Our mission is to locate suitable adoptive homes for homeless and displaced Golden Retrievers and to provide them with shelter, food, companionship and medical attention while they are in foster care. We are also committed to educating the public on all aspects of ownership. This includes care-giving, population control, proper diet and exercise and the importance of regular veterinarian visits.
1. APPLICATION. You will first need to complete an application for adoption. Please email your Name, Home address & Phone number to: proudgrrom@aol.com to request an Adoption Packet. 2. SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION. When you have your completed the application, notify us by email: proudgrrom@aol.com and we will provide you with the address of your assigned Interviewer so that you can submit the application and the $20.00 application fee. 3. INTERVIEW. Your application will be reviewed and a member of GRRoM will contact you for a telephone interview and to set up a home visit. 4. ONCE APPROVED. If you are approved, you will be given a list of the adoptable dogs you qualify for, including contact names and phone numbers. It will be your responsibility to arrange for visits directly with the foster homes and to request updated lists from your interviewer. The list is continually changing, so be prepared that some dogs on the list may no longer be available. 5. REQUIRED VISITS. To help assure that we have a suitable match between you and your golden companion, you will be required to visit 2 Goldens in their foster homes, along with your entire family (including your dogs), roommates, or other members living in your household. A reminder that our Goldens are located in foster homes all over Michigan. 6. ADOPTING A GOLDEN. If you find a dog that you would like to adopt, you will need to contact your interviewer. The interviewer and foster care giver will make a determination regarding your adoption request. It is not uncommon to have multiple families interested in the same dog. If this occurs, a decision will be made based on what is in the best interest of the dog. 7. ADOPTION FEES: If your adoption request is approved, the adoption fee will be required at that point, and a contract is signed with GRRoM binding you to the good care of the dog, and obligating you to notify GRRoM if your address changes and/or the dog is deceased. 8. PICKING UP YOUR GOLDEN. At the time you pick up your dog, you will be required to provide an identification tag for the dog, a leash, and anything else stipulated in your adoption conditions. 9. WHAT ABOUT CHILDREN? We do not adopt dogs with an unknown history to families with children under eight. 10. OTHER INFO. If your adoption request is denied, your interviewer will discuss the reasons for the denial with you. If you cannot comply with the above procedures, our program may not be for you. We would be happy to refer you to other adoption programs which may be more suited to your needs. We hope you decide to adopt a Golden through GRRoM, and look forward to receiving your application!
