Adoption process

You must visit the shelter in person, and will be signed in for a meeting slot for that same day. We Do Not Schedule Appointments via Email or phone, or have an online application. All adoption paperwork and procedures are done in person at the shelter. View all adoptable dogs on our website and decide which dog you’d like to meet. Due to our group housing set up adopters are not allowed to “just look,” as this can be stressful for our animals. We will of course discuss the dogs’ needs with you to ensure that they are the right fit for your lifestyle. If you are unsure about which dog to choose, we may be able to suggest one for you to meet. Weekends, especially Saturdays, can be busy. The earlier you arrive, the better the opportunity you will have to meet the dog you’re interested in adopting. Adoption interviews/ dog meet & greets are scheduled on a first come first serve basis. ‘Signing in’ means we will assign you the earliest available meeting time slot for later that same day to meet the dog you’re interested in. Sign-ins are first come, first served. Meeting slots are 45 minutes long. If multiple people are already signed in for one dog, no more sign-ins will be taken for that dog. Most importantly, we are only able to help so many people per day. When we reach capacity for the day, we will stop taking sign-in. While this can be disappointing for potential adopters, please know that even if it takes a few visits, the perfect dog for you is out there, and we’d love for you to meet him or her here. We require that you bring all human members and any other dogs in the home when coming to meet our dogs. It is important that all members of your household and your potential new companion interact well together. An adoption cannot be completed without all household members meeting the potential dog. You must wear a face mask and maintain appropriate social distancing while at our shelter. Two families at a time are allowed inside our facility. Please visit us only if you are prepared and intend to take a dog home with you that same day, as we do not places holds on our dogs.
