Doggy Smiles Rescue Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue these animals, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

Adoption process

Every animal that comes through Doggy Smiles Rescue lives in a foster home. Most of our available dogs can be met at PetSmart in Lancaster on Sundays. Some of our available cats are available to be met and possibly adopted at the PetSmart in Palmdale. The length of time between when the dog/cat arrives and when it is put up on the website varies. All our dogs will also be spayed or neutered prior to leaving their foster homes. They will be micro-chipped and up-to-date on their shots. If you are selected as the approved home, you may arrange for pickup of the dog/cat. Dogs under 4 months of age will be personally delivered and will have 3 home checks. The first will be conducted upon delivery. The second will be conducted at 3 months old and again at 6 months old. This is to ensure that you are doing well with the new family member and to ensure the puppy is doing well in their new home. Once that dog or cat has joined your family don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us. Training questions, medication questions and anything in between are encouraged.
