Columbia Humane Society is a no-kill animal shelter located in St. Helens, Columbia County, Oregon. We were established in 1985 to help displaced and neglected animals find new homes in Columbia County. We also promote awareness for the need to spay & neuter to humanely control animal population. Columbia Humane Society is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, therefore we do not receive funding from any national or state animal welfare group or government agency. Our operations rely solely on income from donors, small grants, fundraising events, and our fees. Columbia Humane Society is committed to keeping pets healthy, happy, and in their homes for life. Our philosophy is simple and unique: find the perfect pet for each person or family. At CHS we’re not about getting animals out the door; we’re about getting pets into lifetime homes. Sometimes the “right” pet is waiting for you, and other times you may have to search for a while before your canine or feline soul mate arrives. We promise, it will be worth the wait!
Our mission is to assist the community in the successful re-homing and training of adoptable animals. However we also work very hard to find the perfect pet for each person or family. This is done through our very hands on adoption process, we ask that our adoption application be filled out previous to meeting our pet. Once that application has been filled out and returned, our staff who is very knowledgeable about the pets in our care will match you with a pet we feel will be a good fit for your family. Not always do we have that “right” pet that will fit your family. We aren’t just about getting our pets out the door, we are about making life long matches! If you are interested in one of our pets please fill out the adoption application Adoption Application. All applications can be returned by email to animalwelfare@columbiahumane.org
