CAFA’s mission is to improve the lives of dogs and cats in Oregon. CAFA educates and works with the public and other nonprofit organizations on pet overpopulation issues such as spay/neuter, implementation of trap/neuter/return (TNR) programs as well as rescuing and adopting tame cats and kittens into good homes. We are a group of long-time animal activists who have worked with and volunteered for rescues/shelters in the Salem area and other parts of the country. We are primarily concerned about the cat overpopulation problem in our community and want to work with landlord and property owners to be part of the solution through non-lethal means. We believe that spay/neuter and trap/neuter/return (TNR) programs are the only realistic solutions to cat overpopulation in our area. That is why we are working to increase funding for these programs.
CAFA has a simple adoption process of an application form and a contract. There is an adoption fee. All of our cats/kittens have tested negative for feline aids/leukemia, have been vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, spayed/neutered and micro chipped.
