ECAH stands for Extended Circle Animal Haven, the original name of our rescue group. Extended Circle Animal Haven was founded in 2003 to provide a no-kill rescue group in the Tallahassee area. The extended circle reference is from a quote of Dr. Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965), a humanitarian and Noble Peace Price Winner: “Until he extends his circle of compassion to include all livings things, man will not himself achieve peace.” As a result of a reorganization of the group, the name was changed in 2005 to ECAH Animals, Inc. We currently care for about 40-50 rescue cats living in foster homes or in our sanctuary. Our sanctuary is on a private property and we rely on volunteers to take care of our sanctuary cats. Cats stay in our foster homes or at the sanctuary for as long as needed until they are adopted. The majority of our animals find loving homes, the remaining cats spend the rest of their days romping at our sanctuary or in their foster home. ECAH Animals is a no-kill animal rescue, meaning we will never euthanize an animal in our care due to space limitations. Because of this policy we can only take in additional animals as others are adopted out.

These guys are nazi assholes. My application was denied because I had outdoor cats that fell victim to the circle of life. One never came home, the other was killed by coyotes. My mom let one out and the other happened 2 years after I moved away from home....as in the cat was not even in my care. I was living on the other side of the country. Mind you I took this cat in 4 years earlier, he was very sick, I spent alot of money nursing him back to health and gave him a loving home. He would have been long dead before the coyotes.... the other one was a stray as well.. it's really f***** up that there are so many animals in need of loving homes and people who are willing and able to provide that for them are getting denied because of paperwork. It's basically like judging a child's intelligence and success in life based on their test scores. No one contacted me asking for more information on the history of my previous cats. Just straight up denied. F*** ECAH. They're forcing good people to lie on applications. Not to mention, much like how a kid can cheat on a test and get a perfect score, but be completely inept, a bad pet owner can say all the right things on an application and get accepted. Clearly ECAH doesn't make any attempts at getting information beyond paperwork.
