Brenda's Cat Rescue was founded by Brenda Malinics, a well-respected animal advocate in the Philadelphia area. With a small group of volunteers and completely self-funded, we rescue stray and abandoned cats primarily in North and Northwest Philadelphia, provide for their vet care, and work to place them in great forever homes.
Pet ownership is a serious and long‐term responsibility. Cats have an average lifespan of 12‐18 years and some live longer. Each person who adopts a pet must consider that commitment, and be capable and willing to accept the moral, physical and financial responsibility. Therefore applicants must be at least 21 years old and either employed full‐time, self‐employed, or retired. All solo cats are tested, spay/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Only the mothers found with kittens are tested. Many of our cats are microchipped. There is a $100 adoption fee per cat and $150 adoption fee for a pair of cats. These fees help defray the medical costs and care of the cat. The fee is non-refundable. Veterinarian and personal (non-relative) references are required, along with an approved adoption application. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application. Preference given to applicants within one hour of Philadelphia. We get many applications, often for the same cat(s), and as volunteers, we do our best to process all applications in a timely manner and with the best possible matches for cats/humans/home environments. If we have questions about your application, or if you are approved, you will hear from us within a week. We are processing many applications and are unable to return any follow-up inquiries. Thank you for your understanding.
