Established in 2007, Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization staffed solely by volunteers devoted to the rescue of unwanted, abused, and homeless Bassets in Houston, TX, and surrounding regions.

Adoption process

1. First, please complete our adoption application. 2. Upon receipt of your application, we will call your vet(s) to ensure your current pets are up-to-date on annual vaccines, have been spayed/neutered, and are on heartworm preventative. We will also contact your landlord, if applicable. 3. Once we've confirmed vet records, our volunteers will contact you for a phone interview and home visit. 4. After approval, our adoption coordinator will contact you to discuss the available Bassets that best match your lifestyle and are most suitable for your home. Not every Basset will be the right one. Our foster families assess each Basset for particular traits and dislikes. Before adoption, each Basset will be spayed/neutered and will receive all necessary vaccinations, treatments (e.g., heartworm, dental, deworming, etc.), and medications.
