About

Bailey’s Way Rescue is a foster based, 501c3 non-profit rescue, with a strong presence in the Tampa Bay and Fort Myers areas. We are a group of volunteers dedicated to rescuing abandoned, neglected or abused dogs and cats, including those who have run out of time at public shelters. In addition to our rescue efforts, we are very active in the community through events and education. We do our best to help animal owners keep their dogs & cats in their homes with assistance of vet care or dog/cat food when needed. Most significantly, Bailey’s Way is foster based and provides our fosters with everything needed for the animals, to include monthly heartworm & flea/tick preventatives. Many of the animals we have rescued are either medical cases or special needs (and our vet bills reflect this) and often are the dogs or cats that no one else will take. Our group does auctions, raffles, dog washes, adoption events and many other fundraisers to fund the rescue. With additional financial assistance, we hope to acquire property to place a small climate controlled facility to help save additional dogs & cats or have a safe haven for those emergencies that often arise. Bailey’s Way Rescue’s focus is to bring people & dogs or cats together to enrich each other’s lives. We do home and vet checks after adoption & foster applications with background checks for all potential adopters and fosters. It is our goal to be sure the best possible home is found for the dog or cat and the right animal for the adopter or foster. Please help us to continue the great work that we so proudly do!

Adoption process

The first step would be to fill out an adoption application on our website: www.BaileysWayRescue.org/adoption-application. Applicants must be at least 25 years of age and be a Florida resident. Once the application is reviewed and a basic background screening completed, applicants are welcome to schedule a meet and greet with the foster family when mutually convenient. This visit is optional and in some cases trial adoptions may be opted. If you prefer to complete the approval process, a volunteer will visit your home. After the approval, you can have a pup over for a 7-day in-home trial adoption (Foster to Adopt) with no obligation (puppies 16 weeks and younger are not offered a trial period). The rescue provides all needs during the trial period. We offer free transport to approved adopters anywhere within the state of Florida. Once the trial period is complete and you wish to adopt, then the adopter will complete an adoption agreement and remit the adoption donation at such time.
