Anne Arundel County Animal Control

Animal Care & Control is an agency of the Anne Arundel County Police Department. This Agency is responsible for enforcing local and state laws, responding to animal-related complaints, conducting investigations regarding animal cruelty, investigating public safety concerns pertaining to animals and providing temporary housing for animals for a variety of reasons including, but not limited to, for the adoption of animals.

Adoption process

Take a look at the pets on our website, including both those under the “animals available for adoption” section and the “reclaim/rescue animals only” section underneath that. Many of the pets in the second section will become available once their stray hold periods are finished, so interested adopters should pre-screen and/or complete adoption paperwork before a pet’s hold period is over. The shelter is open to the public BY APPOINTMENT ONLY If you are interested in adopting an animal at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control, please complete the Pre-Screen form and send it and supporting documents to ACCFrontDesk@aacounty.org. Please note we accept multiple pre-screen for each animal (up to 3). They are added for review based on the date/time received.
