A.P.A.W.S. (Animal Protection And Welfare Society) is an all volunteer group of people who are dedicated to ensuring that all pet animals in and around the Baton Rouge area live in homes which provide for all of the animal's physical and emotional needs (including daily maintenance, medical care and nurturing) for the animal's lifetime.

Adoption process

Cats - 1. Select the cat you would like to add to your family. 2. Fill out the Cat Adoption Application. 3. An APAWS adoption conselor will review your application. During this time your references, including your vet reference, will be checked. This process rarely takes more than a couple days. 4. Your adoption conselor will bring the cat to your home and the adoption contract will be filled out and signed. At this time you will pay the adoption fee. 5. Give your new kitty lots of love! APAWS is available throughout the cat's life to answer any questions you may have. Dogs - 1. Select the dog you would like to add to your family. 2. Fill out the Dog Adoption Application. 3. An APAWS adoption conselor will review your application. During this time your references, including your vet reference, will be checked. This process rarely takes more than a couple days. 4. Your adoption conselor will set up a meeting time for you to get your new dog. 5. Give your new dog lots of love!
