W.A.R. is the organization behind the Old Drum Animal Shelter. We organized in August 2020 in response to the City of Warrensburg’s vote to defund our local animal shelter. The shelter is the only animal shelter in Johnson County, Missouri and has been an important part of this community for more than 43 years. W.A.R. assumed control of the shelter on Jan. 1, 2021. The city of Warrensburg and Johnson County Missouri each committed to match the first $100,000 W.A.R. raised as part of the first year agreement between the three parties.
