The Animal Services Department is responsible for protecting both the public and animals' health and safety through the enforcement of county codes and rules and regulations; to promote and enforce the law, ordinances and regulations pertaining to Animal Control; to promote pet ownership and kindness to animals; instill in the public through education and by example, respect and compassion for animals; and, to protect the interest of animals, owners, and non-owners alike in such a way that the pet ownership is a simultaneous benefit to the owners and to pets without becoming a burden on the community.
Please complete the Adoption Questionnaire and return it to Wakulla County Animal Services in person or via email to icarroll@mywakulla.com. Before an adoption can be approved, we will check with any previous veterinarians on your past pet history, and may conduct a home visit. Dog adoption fees are $150.00 which includes spay/neuter, microchipping, heartworm test, rabies vaccine, bordatella and parvo/distemper vaccines. Cat adoption fees are $100, which includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, microchip, test and vaccine for feline aids/leukemia. An additional $50.00 refundable deposit is collected at time of adoption if pet is too young to be altered, and will be refunded upon proof of sterilization.
