About

The Mission of the SWIHS is to protect abandoned and homeless animals impounded by the City of Clarinda and, to a lesser extent, those living in the southwest Iowa area. SWIHS was founded in 1991 and incorporated as a non-profit, IRS 501(c) (3), volunteer organization dedicated to promoting the general welfare of animals and enhancing the bond between animals and humans.

Adoption process

Adopters must fill out an adoption form with said requirements. In addition, unaltered animals require the adopter to fill out an ownership/sterilization agreement, requiring the adopter to alter the animal within thirty (30) days. Adoption also requires that adoptee provide proof of identification and address vet reference and any information needed per individual animal.
