Second Chance Small Dog Rescue (SCSDR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Elkhart, Indiana. We are dedicated to giving a second chance to small dogs that are in need. We take in strays, retired breeders, owner surrenders, other rescues, and any other small dog in need. The dogs are placed in foster homes where the emphasis is on getting them medically up-to-date, spayed or neutered, socialized, housebroken and obedience-trained if needed. Our goal is to place our dogs in forever homes. We screen all foster and adoption applicants, and choose the home which best fits the dog’s needs and the applicant’s needs.

We adopted a female Miniature Pinscher from, Second Chance roughly 2 1/2 years ago. She was roughly 2 years old when we adopted her (we named her Minnie) and as my wife says, "she just dropped out of heaven". Minnie has been a great pet. She loves people and especially children. She joins us in our bed each night and travels well. The folks at Second Chance were thorough (they even called our vet to check the reference), professional and pleasant. All in all it was (and has been) a super experience
