Safe Shelter is a no-kill shelter for dogs and cats. Here, "no-kill" means animals are NOT euthanized because of: Old age, Health problems, Behavior problems, Terminal illness, Aggression, Failure to find an adoptive home. Safe shelter will only euthanize an animal if it's quality of life is permanently awful, otherwise, a dog or cat taken in here and not adopted will remain at the shelter for its lifetime. All animals are spayed or neutered, age and health permitting, and are kept current on rabies and distemper vaccinations. Cats are tested upon entry for feline Aids and feline leukemia. (A positive test means the cat is isolated from non-infected animals and allowed to live out his or her life). Dogs are tested for heartworm and kept on a heartworm preventative.
Application process includes an in-face interview, vet reference check, and home visit.
