It is the mission of Misty Eyes to end the needless euthanasia of domesticated pets in Central Indiana and to teach responsible pet ownership and kindness towards all living things. We will do this by working with local organizations, providing community outreach, spay/neuter education and educating adopters, to create lifetime adoptions. These relationships, an enthusiastic volunteer network and a dedicated foster system will help us achieve this goal.
Misty Eyes has wonderful dogs, puppies, cats and kittens who are waiting to find their forever homes. Until the remainder of our facility is constructed, we are currently a foster-based rescue, meaning that all of our animals are living in foster homes. They are not available to be seen at a facility on a walk-in basis. Each weekend, several of our adoptable animals will be at our Adoption Center to meet potential adopters, and we will publish information in advance about the animals who will be present for the weekend. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat that will not be at the center we are happy to make arrangements for a meet and greet. The first step in adopting is to complete and submit an adoption application. It is not necessary to apply for a specific animal; you can apply for a pet based on type, size, age or other characteristics. Applications will be kept on file for a minimum of three months. Our goal in placing animals is to ensure the best fit for the pet and the family. Therefore, we do not grant adoptions on a first-come, first-served basis. All applications for a specific pet will be reviewed to determine the best match.
