The Mississippi Animal Rescue League, MARL, is a private 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals. Chartered in 1969, we are the largest full service animal welfare organization in Central Mississippi providing care and basic medical services for thousands of homeless and unwanted animals each year. We do not receive any general operating funds from any state or federal agency. When you support MARL - whether by making a donation, volunteering your time or by spreading the work about the vital work we do- you support our dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, and burros, and the people we also exist to serve. We are a voice for animals who cannot speak for themselves.
You must be 21 or older to adopt a pet from MARL and you must fill out our adoption application with references. If you rent, we must be able to contact your landlord. Allow about an hour for the adoption process. By adopting a pet from MARL, you are giving the Mississippi Animal Rescue League permission to check on its welfare and to assure that all adoption policies are being met. If at anytime you cannot care for the pet you adopted, you must return it to MARL. You may not give the animal away. Adoption fees include age appropriate shots, de-worming and spay/neuter. Cats and Kittens adoptions include a pet tote. Adoption fees are $100 per pet.
