The American Pit Bull Terrier is a unique and wonderful breed that unfortunately is greatly misunderstood. For those of you who don't know, Pit Bulls (or American Staffordshires as they are in reality the same thing) are a breed of dog that consistently gets an unfair shake in life. Most shelters do not place them up for adoption regardless of age or temperament, while adopting out countless other dogs of unsafe and questionable temperaments, not to mention questionable health.. With very few exceptions, turning a Pit Bull in to your local shelter is a death sentence, almost guaranteed, regardless of your dog's age or temperament. While many shelters feel that this is "the right thing to do", I think that their motives may once have been good, but their implementation leaves a lot to be desired. This is where I come in. I feel that any dog that is physically healthy and has a good temperament with people deserves a shot at a nice life, and I try and provide that to as many dogs as I can. My other goal is public education about Pit Bulls, and dogs in general as the general public is severely undereducated in regards to dog behavior.
