LWDR is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Omaha, NE. We are an all-volunteer group dedicated to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome small dogs. We rely solely on donations to provide our dogs with all necessary veterinary care including spay or neuter. These precious animals are lovingly cared for in foster homes until an appropriate forever home is found so they can take their final step into a happy new life!

Twelve years ago I was able to adopt Howie from LWDR . He was 1.5 years old when he came to me.I almost lost the opportunity because of a commitment—but I INSISTED they reconsider; I begged. The gal who assessed our home agreed. Howie absolutely loved his very own dog door, fenced area and run of the house. I never crated him except on a long car trip, and he was strapped in so he could see me. Apparently his former owners kept him crated and he had separation anxiety… Howie was always by my side. He was funny, curious and clever but above all, he was cuddly and loving. He was the best dog I ever had. LWDR must have worked with Howie extensively. I miss him so much. My life will never be the same.
