Since 1993, the Lange Foundation’s Halfway Home Kennel has been nestled between automotive repair shops along the busy Sepulveda strip in West LA. This Spanish style building was originally a veterinary office before it became the charming facility where rescued dogs and cats from the overcrowded South LA, North Central, and East Valley shelters reside. Our facilities can house 30 dogs and 80 cats at one time. There is a constant influx of animals entering and exiting the kennel – moving from city shelter to forever home – acting truly as a “halfway home.”
Due to our application process, we do not do same-day adoptions. The process typically takes 2-3 days depending on when a home visit can be scheduled. Because we do a home visit prior to adoption we adopt to families in the Southern California region only. This is typically forty miles around Los Angeles and forty miles around Canyon Country. Adoption fees are $125 for adult cats, $150 for cats under 1 year of age. Dogs adoption fees are $250 for adult dogs and $350 for dogs under 1 year of age. The adoption fee goes toward care, boarding, food, vaccines, grooming, surgeries, and much more that goes beyond your new pet. Adoption fees usually do not cover all costs put into each animal. When you provide one animal with a loving home, your adoption fee contributes toward the cost of rescue by supporting all the pets at Lange Foundation and allowing us to save more.
