K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore is an all breed, 501(c)(3) rescue dedicated to improving the lives of dogs on the Eastern Shore & other under-served areas. The organization was established in 2016by dedicated animal lovers who worked in conjunction with one another to improve the lives of dogs. We strongly believe that all dogs matter, regardless of size, breed, age or health condition. Our mission is to rescue the abandoned, neglected, abused, sick and injured from some of the most unthinkable circumstances. We provide medical attention and rehabilitate the dogs that enter our rescue program. Once medical and behavioral issues have been rectified, our dogs are then made available for adoption to qualified, loving homes.

Adoption process

Please complete our online application. Once we have received your online adoption application, we will be in contact with you to further discuss your interest. Please be aware all of our rescue dogs are in private foster homes. We respectfully request that you do not show up at any of our private homes requesting to meet our dogs without making prior arrangements. After speaking with you to determine if the dog is a good fit for you and checking your references, a meeting and home visit will be required prior to final approval of your application. If you are not local to our area, we are capable of making arrangements with a rescue volunteer in your area to assist with this part of the process. ALL of our pets are spay/neutered. Please know that this is the reason these dogs end up in a shelter in the beginning and we will not allow this to continue in this area. All dogs must be spay/neutered in the home for us to approve an adoption. Only puppies under 6 months old may require you to have them spay/neutered after adoption, in this case you will be given a certificate that you will return to us as proof of spaying/neutering in accordance with your adoption contract. Adopting is a huge responsibility and we need to know this will be a lifelong commitment to the animal. Also, please remember that the fosters and volunteers of this rescue have been a big part of this animals life. We would love to have updates from you as the dogs settles in. It really does mean the world to all of us.
