About

Our Mission at Jax’s: To rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abused, abandoned, neglected, or unwanted Labrador Retrievers and Labrador Retriever mixes. Jax’s Labrador Retriever Rescue was founded to rescue Labrador Retrievers, Lab Mixes and other sporting breed dogs from the heart-breaking conditions of shelters. Our particular focus is on less “Labby” looking mixes, harder to place dogs, and those that have a more difficult time getting adopted, but absolutely deserve the chance to escape the shelter and find a safe and loving home. Anyone who has ever owned a Lab or Lab mix knows how precious they are, and the positive impact these dogs make on the families who rescue them. With your help, we can end the dismal cycle of abandoned and abused shelter dogs, and place these dogs in the safe environment where they belong.

Adoption process

Check to make sure you are in our coverage area. Our coverage areas are Bucks County, parts of Montgomery County, Philadelphia and parts of Burlington County and parts of New Jersey. If you are not sure if you are in our coverage area, please email us at info@jaxslabrescue.org. Fill out online adoption application. A volunteer will contact you to set up a home visit to sit down and discuss with you the type of dog you are looking for and to discuss any dogs that are currently available that you might be interested in. All members of your family living in your home must be present at the time of the home visit. We will check your references that you listed on your application. Your application will be reviewed for approval. Your volunteer will advise you if your application is approved. (This usually takes between 3-7 days). Once your application is approved, we will start looking for your new furry family member. If there is a dog you are interested in that is available, we can discuss the possibility for a match with your family. If for some reason, we feel this is not a good fit, we will help you find a dog that is a good fit for you and your family. Once you have been matched with a dog, we will set up an introduction with your new dog and family members including all of your pets. This is usually at a neutral location between you and the dog’s location. If all goes well at the introduction and everyone agrees this is a good match, you will take the dog home to start your 2-week pre-adoptive period. After the 2-week pre-adoptive period, if you decide this is a good fit, we will come to your home to finalize the adoption. We have a trainer on our board of directors that is available to you at any time for any issues that may arise. Jax’s is here to help make the transition of your new dog as easy as possible and we are available to you whenever you need us! Our motto is “Once a Jax’s dog, always a Jax’s dog”.
