The Iberia Parish Rabies and Animal Control facility operates the Animal Shelter located at 2017 Seaway Access Road. The shelter is open for intake/animal drop off from 7:00 am-10:00 am Monday through Friday. Animal adoptions from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. Owner reclaim hours 7:00 am through 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. The Iberia Parish Rabies and Animal Control Department’s main purpose is to provide a public health program to ensure rabies vaccination and registration for all dogs and cats residing in Iberia Parish. The program includes enforcing the rabies and leash law ordinances, inclusive of animal quarantine and observation due to animal bites. The shelter also houses unwanted and stray animals picked up by animal control officers, or dropped off at the shelter by citizens.
The adoption is free, but state law mandates that all animals selected for adoption be spayed or neutered, we give intake vaccinations and microchip each animal. There is an $80 fee for dogs and a $50 fee for cats. Upon payment by money order only, you will be given an appointment to return the adopted animal to the shelter for spay/neuter surgery. Available animals can be found at www.petango.com/ipac. The shelter does not accept cash or credit cards: money orders only.
