The Humane Society of Forsyth County (HSFC) is an independent, privately funded, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the people and pets of Forsyth County for over 44 years. Established in 1975, HSFC has adopted more than 26,000 animals into permanent, loving homes. As the largest no-kill, non-profit humane center in Forsyth County, GA HSFC is dedicated to: Saving the county’s homeless cats and dogs; Reducing pet over-population; Educating our community about “responsible” pet ownership. How we do this is with people like YOU! Even the smallest contribution can make a BIG DIFFERENCE. As a private, independent organization, we are not affiliated with the ASPCA, Humane Society of the US or Associated Humane Societies. HSFC is not a government agency and receives no funding from federal, state or local governments. Our ability to care for the community’s animals is supported solely by modest fees and donations. All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. The Humane Society of Forsyth County is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to the welfare and well-being of the thousands of animals a year that come through our facility. With our mission providing shelter, care, adoptions and community education for homeless, stray and abandoned animals. The Humane Society of Forsyth County’s vision is to educate for the humane treatment of animals and advocate for the end of pet overpopulation. We are eager to deliver the loving attention the animals in our care desperately need, along with warmth, medical care, food and shelter. If possible, the care and rehabilitation are offered to the animals found as strays, seized by animal control or other circumstances that come to our shelter. Being an independent nonprofit organization and to enable us to continue our lifesaving work, we rely on the charitable support of friends like you. Our shelter values every animal entrusted to our care in addition to our volunteers and employees, who give so much in caring for our animals. The Humane Society of Forsyth County is especially grateful to those that generously contribute their time, talents and resources to support our mission such as our volunteers, fosters and supporters. Additionally, we are always striving to improve the way animals and humans are treated as we value the part the community shares in rescuing the beloved pets. Ultimately, The Humane Society of Forsyth County is dedicated to our work and everyone who takes part, no matter how small or large your role is, we believe in the kindness and giving community that continues to let our facility be a success.
Looking for a new pet to add to your family is exciting, and sometimes overwhelming. The adoption experience is made simple by our carefully trained team of volunteers and staff. We are here to help you understand the process, meet the animals, and finalize your adoption. Here’s how your easy adventure in animal adoption will look. 1. Visit Us! Stop by one of our adoption locations or search our listings of adoptable animals online. If the pet you are interested in happens to be in a foster home, we will contact the foster parent to set up the next step. 2. Meet your future friend! We will arrange for you to meet the pet you are interested in, and if you already have furry friends, we can help arrange a proper meet-and-greet. 3. Let the experts help you! Our adoption specialists will share their insights about the animal you’re interested in taking home. 4. Let’s go home! We want you to start off on the right paw. We’ll review all the health and behavior info, like vaccines and training with you. Most of our animals can be taken home on the same day of adoption, but we’ll make sure those who need additional procedures, like spay/neuter surgery, get taken care of based on our evaluations.
